Carley Peterson
Carley Peterson continues her second season as a graduate assistant coach on Hill's staff. After her first year, Hill had glowing comments about her.
"Carley has done a tremendous job shifting from a player to a coach. She helped our program grow more than she'll ever know. Carley has the qualities to be a great coach regardless of the level and will be successful in whatever she does." Hill said. "I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to watch her develop on many levels. I'm just so glad she chose us, and I hope my daughter would use her as a role model."
Peterson graduated from Valdosta State in 2008 with a Bachelors in physical education. Before that though, she starred at guard for Hill.
Peterson racked up a number of honors in her time at VSU. She was the first Lady Blazer since 2001 to be named a Kodak/State Farm WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. Peterson reached the 1,000 point mark and was a two-time First Team All-Gulf South Conference Player.
In her final season, Peterson helped the Lady Blazers to a 26-6 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen. She led the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game while shooting a record-breaking .373 percent from three point range.
Peterson was a leader for Hill on the court as a two-year captain, and continued last season from a coach's seat. She looks to continue to bring her expertise to this season's team while she finishes her Masters in higher educational leadership.
