Valdosta State Ranks Fourth in South Region
VSU behind just one other Gulf South School
VALDOSTA, Ga. - In this season's first release of the NCAA's regional rankings, Valdosta State was listed fourth in the South region behind just one other Gulf South Conference school, Delta State.
Rollins is ranked top in the south with Delta State at second. Barry, another Sunshine State school, comes in third while the Lady Blazers sit at fourth in the South.
The Lady Blazers are ranked in front of GSC rivals West Georgia (5th) and Arkansas Tech (9th). Fort Valley State (6th), Florida Southern (7th), Tampa (8th) and Clark Atlanta (10th) round out the top 10 in the South region.
Despite not receiving votes in the NABC Division II Coaches' Poll, the Lady Blazers are recognized among the best in the nation with such a prominent regional ranking.
It comes as no surprise that Valdosta State ranks in the top four in the South because the Lady Blazers have stormed out to a 5-0 start in GSC action and stand at 15-4 on the season. VSU has won six games in a row and eight of nine. And in nine games, the Lady Blazers have yet to fall at home in the P.E. Complex.
