Lions Drop Lady Blazers

VSU falls in three sets

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Lady Blazers fell to 16-19 on the season and 4-7 in conference play with a loss to the North Alabama Lions, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21. The Lions move on to 22-9 and 10-1 in the Gulf South headed into an important match with West Florida Saturday.

For VSU, Chelsea Logan paced the team with seven kills and nine blocks, one a solo. Logan helped Valdosta State outblock North Alabama 12 to two. Lea Weber led the team in assists with 13, but Niki Patriarca pitched in eight assists with three kills on just five attempts. The only Lady Blazer to reach double digit digs was Brittney Borg with 10.

North Alabama had two players with double digit kills. Whitney Sanders hit 11 while Kelly Pratt teamed her 14 kills with 10 digs for a double-double. Alison Jacobs passed out 38 assists and Jessica Hansen dug the ball 16 times.

Valdosta State will see more action Saturday at 2 p.m. in the P.E. Complex against Alabama-Huntsville.
