Blazers Finish Third at Emerald Coast Collegiate

Witcher shoots eight-under 208

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Valdosta State shot a final round 301 ( 13) to finish third out of 17 teams at the Emerald Coast Collegiate at the par-72, 7041-yard East Course at Tiger Point Tuesday.

The Blazers tallied a three round total of 881 ( 17) to finish the tournament 23 strokes behind tournament winner and host West Florida, which shot an 858 (-6). Georgia College was second with an 871 ( 7) while Lynn shot an 887 ( 23) to finish fourth. North Alabama rounded out the top five with a 30-over 894.

VSU's Brent Witcher shot a final round 70 (-2) to finish second with a three-round total of 208 (-8). West Florida%u2019s Kyle Scott claimed individual medalist honors with a 206 (-10).

Blazer Cole Willis tied for 19th with a 223 ( 7) while Nate Balanis and Jason Flowers each finished with a 227 ( 11) to tie for 30th. Chad Smith was five strokes behind tied for 49th with a 232 ( 16).

Valdosta State returns to action Monday, April 21 when it begins play in at the Gulf South Conference Championships in Hot Springs, Ark.
