Volleyball Begins Conference Play

Lady Blazers fall to West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Valdosta State volleyball team played their first Gulf South Conference game, falling to West Florida in four games.

The Argos (6-7) took an early lead in games one and two, going on an early 10-0 run in the first set, making the score 11-2 and eventually winning the games 30-19 and 30-17. The Argos led most of the third game, but VSU (4-10) held UWF to four game matches, winning 33-31. The Argos held VSU to a .000 hitting percentage in game four and led by as many as 16 before defeating the Blazers 30-15.

Nancy Marin picked u her third double-double of the season with a team high 13 kills and 19 digs while Grace George had 12 kills, a .176 hitting percentage with two solo blocks and four block assists.

Brittney Borg led the defense with 20 digs and Nikki Patriarca had 35 assists.

The Lady Blazers continue conference play Thursday against West Georgia at 7 pm in the PE Complex
