VSU Splits at Rollins Crossover

Lady Blazers take down Rollins, falls to Lynn

Match 1 Box Score Match 2 Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. - Valdosta State traveled to Florida to play three teams at the Rollins Crossover. The Lady Blazers split against the first two on Saturday. After falling to Lynn, 25-18, 25-15, 25-21, VSU bounced back to take down Rollins in five games, 23-25, 26-24, 11-25, 25-19, 15-10. Ruthie King and Irene Hannan again led the team with kills, both with 10. Hannan also racked up 14 digs in the match while Emelia Saulter passed out 30 assists. Lynn had three players with seven kills. Devon Woolard passed out 33 assists and Lacy Pedwine had 14 digs. Against Rollins, the Lady Blazers fell in the first game, but came back to win the second game, 26-24. After dropping the third set, Valdosta State went on to win the fourth and final set for the match. Hannan had 20 kills and Katie Onushko backed her up with 13. Four Lady Blazers were in double digit digs led by Hannan with 17, King had 15. Onushko had 11 and Chelsea Luttfring notched 10. Saulter had 47 assist in the match. Tania Tauiliili had two solo blocks and four assists to help the Lady Blazers outblock Rollins, 9-5. For Rollins Nicki Hartman had 27 kills and Phoebe Corder had 20 digs. Kiana Parks passed out 41 assists. Valdosta State will play their final match of the weekend at 10 a.m. Sunday against Harding.
