LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Valdosta State Blazers are the 2012 NCAA Division II Softball National Champions after an impressive 4-1 victory over defending champion UC San Diego. The championship is Valdosta State's sixth overall championship and first in softball. The win also marks the first softball national championship for the Gulf South Conference.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Valdosta State will play for an NCAA Division II National Championship for the second time in three seasons after an impressive 8-2 victory over Kutztown. The Golden Bears were previously undefeated in the national tournament but the Blazers knocked them off in consecutive games to advance to the final game at 4 p.m. against either Central Oklahoma or UC San Diego.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Valdosta State used a big three-run third inning to get past Kutztown Friday afternoon in the first of what will be two games against the Golden Bears. The Blazers won, 3-1, and will have to face Kutztown once more Saturday to secure a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Valdosta State ensured a second game Friday with a 6-3 victory over Southern Connecticut State.
Morgan Johnson 's three-run homer broke a 3-3 tie and gave VSU the lead in the sixth inning then the Blazer defense retired three straight batters in the seventh to secure a spot in the final four teams left in the nation. Johnson's home run made her the first player at the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament with multiple home runs.
